SMITH'S MARKET....Eat Your Vegetables!!

For the next couple of blogs I am going to be focusing on stores that I frequent alot...
Hutchinson is not known for it's health food stores, or for it's healthy living...
Thankfully, there are places for a vegan to get sustenance. Even if you really can't eat out, you can get the food you need at wonderful stores like Smith's Market!

Smith's Market has been pleasing customers since it's doors opened in 1933!
Walking into Smith's Market is like walking into yesteryear. Beautifully polished hardwood floors, metal ceiling tiles and happy faces greet you when you walk in their door!

The people who work for Smith's market are knowledgable about all of their products. If there is something you are looking for, they are more than happy to show you it's location. In the rare case you cannot find what you need, they are happy to see if they can order it. The wonderful thing about Smith's Market, if they can't get it for you they will gladly send you to another store. Most stores would never send a customer to another store, but Smith's knows that happy customers will come back time and time again.

This is my favorite spot! Located in the back of the store are Smith's markdown items. These items can range from slightly bruised bananas to an over abundance of Asparagus. The deals here are awesome. I have purchased 10 lbs. of tomatoes for about $5.oo, that made incredible sauce, Nectarines that were slightly bruised but tasted so fresh and delicious it brought me right back to summer in the dead of winter, and loaves of wonderful artisan bread for about .99cents a loaf!

The fruit is piled mile high and is so shiny, you can practically see your reflection.

Not only is Smith's Market a great place to shop for your food, it also appeals to your senses. Smith's Market cater's to foodies! Just look at this display of apples. Everything is thought out and lovingly arranged making it a feast for your eyes as well as your palate! (BTW, I think the monkey makes this shot!!!)

Most tomatoes are pink when they arrive to your store in December. These tomatoes look and taste like they were just picked.

Everything is so beautiful....

Smith's Market carries a wide variety of foods. They carry: candy, nuts, grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, TONS of organic products, teas, coffees, sugars and specialty items. One of my favorite things to buy when I am at Smith's is, Meyer's household cleaning supplies. It is wonderfully fresh smelling and not tested on animals!

This is locally made dried pastas, next to it are various oils and vinegars. Smith's carries several different brands of pasta, including organic. They even carry Organic pasta sauces.

The detail in this store makes all the difference to the consumer.

Another of my favorite things in Smith's are these t-shirts. Eat Your Vegetables! How awesome is that. On the back it says Smith's Market! My daughter and I both own their designs!

Smith's Market makes shopping fun. It gives you something to look forward to on a dull grey day. It makes you think of your childhood when everything was big and you were full of wonder. Take a trip down memory lane, Come to Hutchinson, Kansas and experience it for yourself!
Thanks to Vicki, and Jessica for letting me take pictures and answering all my questions about this great store!!!

Oh I love this post! You make me miss grocery shopping in the US so much. Actually, you make me miss grocery shopping in any part of the world that isn't the GCC. Stores here have a lot of food, but none of it is organic and the customer service is worse than awful.

Smith's Market sounds absolutely wonderful, the way you wrote about it put a smile on my face. It is the kind of store that I would just stop by in all the time, I'd be making excuses for things I needed just so I could peek around. So many lovely things, and all that bright, fresh produce. You are so lucky to know this place!

Brandi, that is so cool that you and my sister-in-law, Autumn Fauver, are leaving comments for each other! It's a small world! :)

And guess what else? My husband and I shop at Smith's every weekend! We love Smith's Marketplace! They ARE great! Your location sounds like it might be even nicer than the one we frequent, but still Smith's is very accommodating to vegan needs, in general.

Great post today, Brandi! I just love it, pics and all! Smith's should give you a gift card for writing up such beautiful praise about them! Seriously! :)
